WWI - Bobbie and the War

“Bobbie and the War” is a great example of how history can be adapted to anyone’s comprehension level. This short pamphlet answers six key questions that the author’s son, Bobbie, asks about World War I: “Why Is the War?”, “Why Are We In the War?”, “A Different War from All Others?”, “What is Patriotism?”, “What Can I Do?”, and “Is this the Last War?” Using a conversational tone that is easily understood, Bobbie’s father gives clear responses to the questions. Despite the complexity of the issues surrounding the outbreak of the war and U.S. entry into the conflict, Bobbie’s father is able to provide an accurate portrayal of all the major issues. This pamphlet may be particularly useful to those having difficulty understanding the basic aspects of World War I.
