10/08/2007   Town of Lewisboro to Receive State Archives Award

Albany, NY -- The Board of Regents and the New York State Archives have selected the Town of Lewisboro in Westchester County to receive the 2007 Cheryl Steinbach Annual Archives Award for Excellence in Local Government Records Management.

Town Clerk and Records Management Officer Kathleen Cory has been invited to accept the award at a luncheon ceremony at the State Education Building in Albany on October 22, 2007. The award is named for the late Cheryl Steinbach, Chautauqua Town Clerk, who was a strong advocate for strengthening local government archival and records management programs.

The award recognizes Lewisboro for its exceptional commitment to an active and comprehensive records management program as demonstrated by an all-inclusive policy and procedures manual, strong financial support, a local law the ensures compliance, and an energetic advisory board. The award also commends Lewisboro for its meticulous use of records schedules, solid microfilm program and access to its records through an award-winning website. The Town’s records management program is a model for other local governments to emulate.

Previous recipients of this annual award include Rockland County (2000), the City of Troy (2001), Corning Community College (2002), Niagara County (2003), Village of Dexter (2004), Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County (2005), and the Town of Cheektowaga (2006).
