Description:

View of New York City prison and criminal court building on Centre Street and surrounding buildings. A sign for H. Wolf's Book Bindery can be seen across the street. Pedestrians are on the sidewalk and trolley tracks are visible on the brick paved street.

Though the original slide identifies this building as "The Tombs", a common nickname for the "Halls of Justice," it is more likely a different, unidentified prison in New York City. The Tombs was rebuilt in 1902, replacing the original building which was built between 1835 and 1840.
