- Find a county historian
- In New York State all local governments, whether a town, city, school, or county, hold archival records. The Records Management Officer is responsible for the historical records of the government. He or she can also provide you with name of the local historican. Search the Directory of New York State Local Governments for a records management officer.
- Continue your search for community records by searching Excelsior, the online catalog of the New York State Archives and State Library, and the Historic Documents Inventory, the statewide section containing historic records.
