Overview of the Records

Scope and Content Note

These records document review and planning of rehabilitation services within the state Department of Health. They contain the initial plans for state designation and support of comprehensive rehabilitation centers in teaching medical centers across the state and for regional coordination of rehabilitation services.

Reports by bureau heads summarizing programs and service delivery problems comprise the bulk of the series. Minutes for the Committee's three meetings summarize the status of the Committee's projects for coordinating state services. Memorandums note the Committee's origin, mission, and scheduled dissolution. The final report outlines the statewide coordination and service development plan, which became a major accomplishment of the Interdepartmental Health and Hospital Council's Committee on Rehabilitation.
