Administrative History

An amendment to the Constitution of 1894 (Article XIII, Sections 2-3, as amended November 6, 1923) forbade the Legislature from passing local laws. Chapter 363 of the Laws of 1924 provided for passages of local laws and for recording them by the Secretary of State.

The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
