Scope and Content Note

As do the Subject Files, these records reflect the diverse functions of state government and the governor's broad administrative responsibility in supervising these functions. Correspondence with citizens, public officials, businesses and organizations, and state agencies concerns such issues as: medical malpractice; labor-management disputes (public and private sector); taxation and state finance; crime, the death penalty, and prisons; costs of public utilities and services; environmental pollution; public health; education; and the New York City fiscal crisis. The correspondence includes suggestions, questions, and criticism or praise for the governor's policies.
