Summary:
This series consists mostly of minutes, agendas, and reports created by the New York State Salary Standardization Board in its review of job titles and corresponding salary grades in New York State government. The minutes generally document appeals by agencies to adjust salary grades job requirements, and duties of various titles. The reports address training programs and salaries in private industry, medical positions in the public health field, and proposed positions in the New York State Museum.

Scope and Content Note

The bulk of this series consists of minutes, agendas, and reports created by the New York State Salary Standardization Board in its review of job titles and corresponding salary grades in New York State government. The minutes generally document appeals by different state agencies to adjust salary grades for employees, and trace discussions over job requirements (e.g. education, licensing, etc.) and duties of various titles. One volume of minutes, maintained by Chairman Lutz, deals with the Board's organization, Civil Service law, and other legal matters.

The reports include published reports of the Standardization Board from 1938-1949; a Department of Civil Service supplemental report to the Board; and reports concerning such topics as training programs and salaries in private industry, medical positions in the public health field, and proposed positions in the New York State Museum. A Salary Survey Index (1947) is also included in the series.
