Administrative History

The George A. Fuller Company was founded by C. E. Clark and George A. Fuller, a Boston architect and engineer, in Chicago in 1882. The Fuller Company was one of the first true general contractors, completing high-rise and other large structures by coordinating the work of hundreds of men employed by multiple subcontractors. Fuller opened an office in New York in 1896 and began accepting contracts throughout the northeastern United States. In 1966, the New York State Office of General Services hired the Fuller Company to manage the Albany South Mall (Empire State Plaza) construction project and conduct most quality control inspections.
