Scope and Content Note

This microfilm is master negative copies of original linen tracings of maps and descriptions documenting individual acquisitions of real property completed by the Department of Transportation. The Division of Real Estate Director's Office has administrative responsibility for documenting such land acquisitions.

The records filmed document land acquisitions required for all department construction projects as well as acquisitions completed on behalf of other state and municipal agencies. Types of acquisition projects may include those which are related to the Public Service Commission, state highways, or interstate ventures. Duplicate copies of the original records are filed with the Department of State, county clerk's offices, and Department of Transportation regional offices. Most of the series is arranged according to consecutive Department of Transportation region number. After reels for the final region (#10), there are groups labeled "All Counties," "Floods," and "Secondary."
