Summary:
This series consists of photographs, architectural drawings and elevations, and occasionally, narrative descriptions of historic structures which are to be razed. The Bureau of Historic Preservation Field Services is responsible for ensuring that owners of structures that are on, or are eligible to be on, the State or Federal Registers of Historic Places document those structures prior to their demolition. These files are probably the best graphic documentation of the designated structures just prior to demolition.

Scope and Content Note

This series consists of photographs, architectural drawings and elevations; and, occasionally, narrative descriptions of historic structures which are to be razed. The Bureau of Historic Preservation Field Services is responsible for ensuring that owners of structures that are on, or are eligible to be on, the State or Federal Registers of Historic Places document those structures prior to their demolition. These files are probably the best graphic documentation of the designated structures just prior to demolition. As such, they compliment other bureau series, such as Register project review files (Series 19423).

19309-97: This accretion pertains solely to the Vernon Street Bridge, located in Middleport, New York.

19309-97A: This accretion pertains solely to the Cleveland Avenue School, located in the City of Niagara Falls, New York. In addition to eleven 6 x 8 inch photographs of the school, it includes a transmittal letter from the City and a letter summarizing the need to demolish the structure.

19309-99: This accretion consists of files for Buena Vista Garage Site (Yonkers, Westchester County); 40 Howard Street Garage (Albany, Albany County); and Young's Bridge (Town of Lockport, Niagara County).

19309-99A: This accretion consists of adverse impact documentation files for: 20 Ferrell Street, Village of Skanetteles, Onondaga County; Marshall Farm Complex, Town of Clay, Onondaga County; Ashford Bridge #14, Town of Ashford, Cattaraugus County; and Mt. Hope Reservoir's 1906 Concrete Gravity Dam, City of Oneida, Madison County. Black-and-white photographic prints and negatives are included.
