Administrative History

The Planning Division maintains, revises, and amends the Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan Map. Some amendments are straightforward and simple to execute. These usually involve technical corrections such as printing errors, illegibility of boundary lines, or the erroneous classification of state lands as private and vice versa. Other amendments may be more complicated and can involve the preparation of environmental impact statements and the holding of hearings. These amendments may take months to finalize and usually involve the reclassification of land use areas (e.g. designating an area as a marsh instead of a bog or urbanized as oppose to residential).
