Administrative History
The State Park Police were established in 1925 as a unit of the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and are a fully accredited law enforcement agency. Their responsibilities now extend outside park boundaries and they work with both the State Police and county and municipal law enforcement agencies. They are headquartered in the Empire State Plaza and maintain eleven regional headquarters. They also operate a training academy at Oswego.

This series consists of the official manual of the State Park Police. The manual contains detailed descriptions of the State Park Police's policies and procedures ranging from how to compile and submit various types of reports to pursuit and arrest procedures.
