Administrative History
The State Park Police were established in 1925 as a unit of the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and are a fully accredited law enforcement agency. Their responsibilities now extend outside park boundaries and they work in cooperation with State Police and county and municipal law enforcement agencies. They are headquartered in the Empire State Plaza and maintain eleven regional headquarters. They also operate a training academy at Oswego.
