Administrative History

The New York State Commission on Forensic Science was established under Article 49-B of the Executive Law. The main purpose of this commission is to develop minimum standards and a program of accreditation for all forensic laboratories located in New York State. Additionally, the DNA subcommittee accredits DNA laboratories and advises the commission regarding quality control and procedures for forensic DNA analysis.
