Administrative History

The New York State Commission of the Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition was established by Chapter 642 of the Laws of 1926 to represent New York State at the Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition celebrating 150 years of American independence. The exhibition was held at Philadelphia from June through December, 1926. The nine-member commission was allotted a $100,000 appropriation to erect appropriate buildings for participation by New York State in the celebration.

Scope and Content Note

The series consists of log books of visitors attending celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the American Revolution. Volumes are labeled for Federal Hall, Philadelphia, and for Washington's Headquarters, Newburgh-on-the Hudson, during the Sesquicentennial International Exhibition. The records give visitor's name, address, and state or country; dates appear at the top of the page.
