Administrative History
The Census of 1925 was taken pursuant to Chapter 191 of the Laws of 1925 and Article III, Section 4 of the Constitution of 1894. The compilation of the state census was administered through the Secretary of State's office.
Scope and Content Note
This series is a statistical compendium of the New York State census of 1925 administered by the Secretary of State. It consists of fifteen tables of population as follows: Table 1: By Counties. Table 2: By Election Districts (arranged by county, then by city and town). Table 3: By Towns and Wards, Excepting Greater New York. Table 4: By Blocks (this and the following tables are arranged by assembly district, election district, and block). Table 5: New York County by Blocks (3 volumes). Table 6: Kings County by Blocks. Table 7: Queens County by Blocks (2 volumes). Table 8: Richmond County (by election districts). Table 9: Buffalo, Tonawanda and Lackawanna (by blocks). Table 10: Rochester by Blocks. Table 11: New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, White Plains, and Yonkers (by blocks). Table 12: Cities. Table 13: Incorporated Villages. Table 14: Indian Reservations. Table 15: Percentage of Inhabitants of Counties Reported as Aliens in State Enumerations of 1925, 1915 and 1905 (arranged by county). Each table gives the number of citizens, aliens, and total population for the area enumerated. The tables are typewritten with ink corrections.
