Summary:
Land belonging to William Seward Webb and the Ne-Ha-Sa-Ne Park Association was damaged after a dam across Beaver River formed a reservoir, which flooded. Reimbursement was granted. Shortly thereafter, the Commissioners of the Board of Fisheries, Game and Forest purchased the land. This series consists of bonds, deeds, land contracts, Certificates of Search, and Abstracts of Title recording the purchase of the damaged land in the town of Wilmurt, Herkimer County for the Adirondack Park.

Administrative History

In 1895, land belonging to William Seward Webb and the Ne-Ha-Sa-Ne Park Association was damaged after a dam accross Beaver River formed a reservoir which flooded. The parties requested reimbursement, which was granted. Shortly thereafter, the Commissioners of the Board of Fisheries, Game and Forest, with the approval of the Commissioners of the Land Office, purchased the land pursuant to the Laws of 1881, Chapter 336; the Laws of 1892, Chapter 469; and the Laws of 1895, Chapter 561. The Laws of 1881, Chapter 336, and the Laws of 1892, Chapter 469, restore waters taken for the use of canals to the State. The Laws of 1895, Chapter 561, gives the Forest Commission the power to purchase land within the boundaries of the forest preserve for the Adirondack Park.

This series consists of two volumes containing bonds, deeds, land contracts, Certificates of Search, and Abstracts of Title recording the purchase of damaged land from William Seward Webb and the Ne-Ha-Sa-Ne Park Association in the town of Wilmurt, Herkimer County.
