This series relates to the Department of Agriculture and Markets activities under the responsibility of the New York State Interdepartmental Committee on Farm and Food Processing.
Scope and Content Note
Applications for migrant labor registration certificates are required by the New York State Department of Labor and Department of Agriculture and Markets.
They provide information on: name and address of registrant; name of farm where migrants will work; number of migrants needed; migrants' home state; approximate dates of employment; name and address of camp where migrants will be housed; list of the chief crops, work to be done, and wage rates the migrants will be paid for each type of work on each crop; amount of charges, if any, migrants will pay for meals, room, electricity, transportation to New York State, and other charges; and whether migrants will be covered by workmen's compensation insurance or farmer's liability insurance. Each registrant must sign and keep the cerificate in his possession and display it upon request.
