Administrative History

The temporary state commission was created in 1942 (Chapter 660) and mandated to order allot funds for and keep records of the progress of such state projects as railroad grade crossing eliminations, highways, parkways, buildings and public housing projects. The commission was also to order the preparation of plans and specifications for those state projects. Chapter 660 of the Laws of 1943 expanded the commission's duties to include the allotment of state grants to be made by the commission to municipalities, school districts or district corporations for local improvement projects. The commission was abolished in 1947 (Chapter 660 of the Laws of 1946) after the submission of its final report to the governor and legislature on July 1, 1947.
