Scope and Content Note

This series contains final and working drafts, research notes, and correspondence relating to the compilation of "The History of the State's Care of the Mentally Ill." The final typewritten draft runs approximately 1,000 double-spaced pages. There are also abstracts of laws pertaining to the state's concern for the mentally ill and abstracts of historical articles from Psychiatric Quarterly. The record director appears to have been Dr. Horatio M. Pollack, with Karl L. Brooks as Research Assistant.
