This series from the Comptroller's Office contains lists of newspapers that published official state notices, such as the canvass of votes from elections, or proposed policies. Scope and Content Note

These are lists of newspapers chosen by the Secretary of State to publish official state notices, such as the canvass of votes from elections, or proposed policies. Laws of 1827 authorized the Secretary of State to publish notices of elections, laws, etc.

The lists give the subject of publication; date; election district number; name of newspaper; place of publication; and amount paid for publication. One list also names the newspapers' proprietors.
