Scope and Content Note

This series consists of single-page financial reports submitted to the State Comptroller by toll collectors at points on the Erie and Champlain Canals. Reports indicate the location, name of collector, total amount of tolls received each month during the period from April through July of 1826, amount of fines received or refunds granted during the period (if any), amount of revenue retained for payment of expenses (payroll, rent, contingency expenses) during the period, and total amount deposited in the State Treasury.
