Summary:
This volume is a ledger accounts of Commissioners of the Canal Fund for Erie and Champlain Canal Fund and stock, and for stock of the Cayuga and Seneca, Crooked Lake, Chenango, Oswego, and Black River canals. There are also accounts with the Canal Commissioners, Superintendents of Repairs, and banks in New York City, Albany, and elsewhere in which tolls and canal loans premiums were deposited.

Administrative History

The Commissioners of the Canal Fund were established by the Laws of 1817, Chap. 262, and given charge of the Canal Fund established by the same act, and of all financial operations of the canal system. The Canal Fund was financed through public sale of stock for the various canals.

This series contains a ledger of accounts of the Commissioners of the Canal Fund for the Erie and Champlain Canal Fund and stock, as well as the stock of the Cayuga and Seneca, Crooked Lake, Chenango, Oswego, and Black River Canals. The series also includes accounts with Canal Commissioners and Superintendents of Repairs, and with banks in New York City, Albany, and elsewhere, in which tolls and canal loan premiums were deposited.
