Scope and Content Note

This series consists of a list of Loan Office Certificates issued by the United States to the State of New York at six per cent interest.

The series provides the name in "whose favor" the loan was issued, the date, the number of the certificate, the nominal dollar value per certificate, the total amount, the percentage rate, the special value or current value of the certificate before its maturity date, the date on which interest began to accrue, length of time the certificate has been accruing interest since December 31, 1784, and the amount of interest due. It appears that this list was at one time part of larger volume since the first page of the series is marked "No. 2 Loan Office."
