Scope and Content Note
This series consists of bonds that were issued by various county clerks and treasurers in the names of varying surety companies for specified sums of money mentioned in the bonds. The bonds contain: the name of the mortgagee and the mortgagor; the date of the mortgage and the county where it was first recorded; the maximum amount of principle debt or obligation which under any contingency may be secured by such mortgage; the summarizing page of the company's annual financial statement detailing resources and liabilities; and in some instances, extracts from the record books from the board of the company, containing resolutions pertaining to bond(s) executed.
The bonds were generated by the Laws of 1905, Chapter 729, and renumbered and amended by the Laws of 1906, Chapter 532, and amended by the Laws of 1907, Chapter 340.
