Scope and Content Note

This series consists of a list of interest due for varying periods of time on state stock issued in 1842 and 1848. The stock was issued (L. 1842, Ch. 114; L. 1848, Ch. 216) in order to pay the unpaid balance of the interest and redeem the principle of the state's canal debt that could not be paid by the sinking fund. The list contains information on: the certificate number of the stock issued; for what amount the certificate was issued; in whose favor the stock was issued; when it was to be paid; the amount of interest paid; and who received the amount specified.
