Administrative History
The records were filed with the Comptroller's office in accordance with Chapter 21 of the Laws of 1782, which required all state offices, civil or military, to submit to the Auditor (predeceassor of the Comptroller) "Such returns, abstracts, or accounts, or vouchers as shall be necessary" to settle the accounts of the State.
Scope and Content Note
This series consists of bills and receipts from the office of the Superintendent of the Onondaga Salt Springs dated between, 1841 and 1842. These particular records seem to be receipts and bills for work performed on constructing aquaducts from reservoirs at Salina and two reservoirs at Getties, which was authorized by Chapter 183 of the Laws of 1841. The series consists mostly of receipts for labor and supplies rented during this construction project.
