Scope and Content Note
This series consists of a chronological record of payments made by the State from 1838 to 1841. The Journal was created in accordance with the Comptroller's duties to oversee financial transactions of the State and State agencies. Information included is the person, agency, or institution to which payment is to be made; warrant number; amount; and daily totals.
Payments are made to such organizations or agencies as: brigade inspectors; the banking department; county treasurers; the court of errors; and on accounts such as expenses of the Comptroller's Office, expenses of the geological survey, postage for state offices, and expenses of the building of the new state hall.
