Scope and Content Note

This series contains copies of Comptroller consents relating to issuance of bonds by towns and school districts for various improvements (highways, school houses, etc.) per the Town Law, Section 195. Also included are consents of the Conservation Commission permitting state lands within the Adirondack Forest Preserve to be taxed; petitions of towns or school districts to the Conservation Commission for its consent, which contain a statement of the vote on bonding proposition, a copy of a petition for the vote on the proposition, and a statement of existing and proposed bonded indebtedness; and related correspondence. Almost all of the documents relate to towns or school districts in Essex, Franklin, and Hamilton Counties.
