Scope and Content Note

This series consists of statements prepared by assessors of towns within what became the Adirondack Forest Preserve, giving acres of forest land, assessed value thereof in 1883, acres of improved land, assessed value thereof in 1883, and total acreage of town.

Some statements have letters of transmittal to Comptroller attached. These were compiled in conjunction with land assessment laws of 1882 which describe place and manner of assessment.
