Scope and Content Note

This series consists of two bound volumes recovering what commissions were sent to the various county clerk's offices. It appears that these volumes are in-house records created by the secretary of state's office (which was the official clerk of the Council of Appointment) to record what commissions have been transferred to the appropriate county clerk's office. Each entry records the date the commission was sent, how (mail or messenger; messenger's name if so), the type of commission, number, and occasionally the last names of appointees. The volumes are arranged alphabetically by county with entries made chronologically there in. County index in front of each volume.
