Arrangement
Chronological by school year and therein very roughly by type of record or program.
Scope and Content Note
The series consists of records which document in great detail the expenditure of federal funds allocated for vocational education in New York under the Vocational Education Act of 1917 (Smith-Hughes) and George-Deen Act of 1936.
Included are correspondence; memoranda; appropriations estimates; copies of certificates of approval for expenditures from the director of the budget; appointments lists; salary schedules; payroll lists; requisitions for supplies; purchase orders; warrants for payment; copies of vouchers for payment of federal funds to the state; annual reports of trade and vocational schools; and recommendations for appointment to serve as extension vocational teacher trainer.
A card file of expenditures for 1944/1945 is at the end of the series. Records after 1940/1941 are poorly arranged; the documents described above are in no particular order, and there is some mixing of records for different school years.
