Arrangement
Chronological by date inmate left institution.
Scope and Content Note
These volumes provide the following information on inmates who were discharged or transferred to another institution: name; date left institution; number of years and months in school; school grade level (recorded only through July 29, 1907); shop or type of work done (e.g. "farm", "manual", "office", "blacksmith", "printing") (through late June 1907); farm colony (from late June 1907 on); and to whom sent: name of person, or name of institution if transferred, address, and relationship if a relative.
In the back of Volume 1 there is also a register of inmates who escaped from June 30, 1902 - February 12, 1919, providing the same information except that, instead of "to whom sent", the building or area of the school from which the inmate escaped was recorded. This register of escapees also gives the dates on which certain inmates were transferred to the Elmira Reformatory.
