Chronological by year and thereunder by date of offense.
Scope and Content Note
This volume cites incidents of inmate misbehavior. It was kept in conjunction with the "badge system," whereby inmates earned badges and associated privileges for good behavior. (The badge system is described in detail in the institution's Twenty-Third Annual Report for 1882).
Entries contain the inmates' name and number, the date, and the offense. If in any given year, more than one offense was committed by an inmate, the subsequent offenses were added after the initial entry for the inmate. Examples of misbehavior include poor work, impudence or disobedience to staff, profanity, disorderliness, fighting, and stealing.
