Overview of the Records

Scope and Content Note

These records consist of two subseries, each indexing one subseries of Series A3045, Instructional Lantern Slides: 1) Catalog of images for use in educational slide sets, arranged by alpha-numeric catalog number, and 2) Subject index to unclassified images, in three alphabetically arranged sections: general (subject or country), major countries or continents, and U.S. states.

Cards in subseries 1 give the following information: catalog number, negative number, title, location, date, list or study numbers in which the image was included, regional location (if New York State image), and notation if the image was discontinued from use. Cards in subseries 2 give location, general subject, and preliminary number. If an unclassified image was later selected for use in the loan collection, its entry in these cards was crossed out. The cards do not include entries for all unclassified slides.
