Scope and Content Note

The series consists of copies of the printed annual report of the Division of Visual Instruction (later Bureau of Radio and Visual Aids) included in the annual report of the Education Department for 1913-1914 and 1923-1938. These reports summarize the division's activities during the previous year, including descriptions of new publications. Some reports include information on the background of the division or use of lantern slides and other audio-visual aids.

Also included in the series are copies of departmental Handbook 31, outlining the functions of the division and availability of lantern slides and other visual aids for loan for the years 1909, 1916, and 1934, as well as photoprints depicting the Division of Visual Instruction's offices that were used to illustrate "Circular 4: Visual Instruction Equipment" (mentioned in 1926 Annual Report of the Division of Visual Instruction, p. 172).
