Scope and Content Note

This series consists of correspondence related to the June 2, 1940 reception for an exhibit organized by the New York State Library at the 1939-1940 World's Fair held in New York City. The records include copies of invitations; acceptances or declinations of invitations; and lists of people invited. Invitations were sent by Frank Pierrepont Graves, the Commissioner of the New York State Education Department from 1921-1940.

Custodial History

These records were transferred by the office of the Commissioner of Education to the New York State Library on June 10, 1940. The records became estrayed from the initial State Library transfer of records to the State Archives in 1977-1978. The records were discovered in 1987 and accessioned at that time.
