Administrative History

The supervisors of several towns bounded by the line dividing the patents requested the Surveyor General to conduct the survey so that the boundaries of their towns could be firmly established. The Surveyor General directed surveys of state lands.

The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
