Scope and Content Note

This series consists of typed extracts of the Buffalo Baptist Association. The minutes were apparently printed each year, but it is not known who compiled the abstracts or from what source they were obtained.

The abstracts contain the following kinds of information: deaths of prominent Baptist clergy; admission of churches into the association; missionary work performed by association members; historical sketches of member churches; and resolutions passed by the association. Also included in this series is a series of twenty typed essays on the history of the Buffalo Baptist Association presumably based on the extracts of minutes. This history covers the period 1801 to 1940. Its authorship is unknown.

Custodial History

Records were transferred to the State Library by the WPA in 1942 and later transferred to the Archives as part of old collection #550C, accession number -372.
