This series consists of reports gathered by the Commission in its investigation of mental institutions throughout the country. Most are annual reports from state mental health agencies, private charitable organizations, hospitals, asylums, and schools in other states. Scope and Content Note

The series consists of approximately 250 printed reports gathered by the Commission in its investigation of mental institutions throughout the country.

The majority of these are annual reports from state mental health agencies, private charitable organizations, hospitals, asylums, and schools in other states. There is also correspondence relating to the Commission's request for information. Approximately thirty of the reports are from New York institutions including the New York State Reformatory for Women at Bedford and the State Custodial Asylum for Feeble-Minded Women at Newark, New York.
