Scope and Content Note

The series consists of preliminary, monthly, and some final estimates for construction contracts let for Barge Canal projects. Records primarily refer to Western Division locations near Rochester, Holley, and the Genesee Valley Park.

Information typically includes: station number; computations of earth, rock and embankment excavations (in cubic feet and cubic yards); and comparisons of quantities.

Measurements are in pencil and often difficult to read. There are very occasionally blueprint copies of cross sections attached; the majority of diagrams are small original drawings in pencil.

Excavations of structures are estimated separately within each contract (e.g. grubbing; excavation for puddle; excavation for wash wall; vertical retaining wall; etc.).
