Summary:
This series apparently originated in work of the State Engineer and Surveyor. There is no clear relationship among the records; neither is it known who brought the records together, or for what purpose. Included are statistical data from the Office of the State Engineer and Surveyor, field notes pertaining to the canal's Western Division, correspondence, copies of indentures of property and related blueprint maps, blueprint copies of estimates for materials, and notes of an inventory of canal contract materials.

Scope and Content Note

The series consists of an assortment of documents, apparently originating in work of the State Engineer and Surveyor. The only element these materials have in common is the state's canal system. There is no clear relationship among records; neither is it known who brought the records together, or for what purpose.

Among the records are: statistical data from the office of the State Engineer and Surveyor; unattributed field notes pertaining to the canal's Western Division; correspondence on many unrelated matters; copies of indentures of property and related blueprint maps; blueprint copies of estimates for materials; and notes of what is apparently an inventory of canal contract materials.
