Scope and Content Note

The series consists of copies of laws, regulations, newspaper and periodical articles, investigative transcripts and reports, correspondence, and related material on the practice of optometry and dentistry. Within the State Education Department, professional examining boards, under the supervision of the Board of Regents, issue licenses and discipline practitioners in these fields.

The material was apparently kept by the Office of Professional Licensing as reference material. Much of it relates to practices, professional guidelines, and discipline in other states, although a labeled reference to "Finlay-Straus" seems to pertain to the development of legislation in New York State on professional practice.
