Scope and Content Note
The series contains planning and promotional documents for the grand opening celebration of the New York State Museum at its new location at the Cultural Education Center in the Empire State Plaza, Albany, New York. The celebration took place on July 1-4, 1976, and included several events.
Records include Museum Opening Committee agendas and meeting minutes; press releases; transcripts of speeches; invitations and programs; posters, pamphlets and other promotional materials; plans for various events; exhibit planning notes; and black and white photographic prints.

A4611-12: These records were transferred in September 2011 to the State Archives by Sally Davis, who co-organized the celebration for the opening of the State Museum. The records were accessioned in March 2012 following their appraisal.
