Scope and Content Note

This series contains notices of appointments, correspondence and written oaths submitted to the secretary of state by the commissioner of deeds. These signed oaths of office, which swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States and New York State, were filed, along with an impression of the Commissioner's seal pursuant to Chapter 270 of the Laws of 1850. The oaths contain the name of the appointee, office to which the person was appointed, location and date.
