Volumes 1-12:Alphabetical by name of county and therein by date of commission.

Volumes 13-23:Alphabetical by last name of notary public.

Scope and Content Note

This series consists of 23 bound volumes, which record governors' appointments of notaries public. The registers provide the notary public's name, date of commission, expiration of term, and in whose place the individual was appointed. The series contains twelve volumes dealing with appointments made throughout New York State (except New York City) and another eleven (vols. 14-23) covering appointments for New York City and Kings County.
