Administrative History

Candidate statements were filed pursuant to sections 750 and 776 of the Penal Law (Chapter 88, Laws of 1909; Chapter 40 of the Consolidated Laws of 1909) and Sections 541 and 546 of the Election Law (Chapter 22 of the Laws of 1909.

Scope and Content Note

This series contains itemized statements showing all monies contributed to or expended by candidates running for elections or party committees, during primaries. Each statement contains the name of the candidate, city of residence (sometimes legal address), county, party affiliation, office for which the candidate is running, date, receipts (date, from whom received, amount), expenditures (date, to whom paid, amount) and a notarized deposition stating that all information given "is in all reports true."

Some of the statements submitted are duplicates of the originals, while others are the original forms and contain the candidate's signatures. The duplicates are mostly from candidates in the New York City area. The originals of these statements were filed with the Board of Elections for New York City.
