Scope and Content Note

This series consists of a time book for prisoner labor (Company no. 6) in the iron ore separator at Clinton State Prison. Each folio lists the names and numbers of prisoners; their absence or presence each day; and the total number of days worked by each man and by all men for each month. At the end of each month's figures is (usually) a statement by the keeper that the figures are correct. Laws of 1847, Chap. 460, Section 58, required keepers to maintain a daily account of labor of the convicts, as required by the prison agent.
