Scope and Content Note

Copies of general and special orders from Agent and Warden of Clinton State Prison concerning the duties of keepers and guards, rules for prisoners, and other administrative procedures. A law of 1847 required the wardens of state prisons to give "necessary directions to the keepers" and to keep a book of general orders.
